This is the great event of autumn 2011 / spring 2012 that will
close "the year of China in Italy" and celebrates
the fortieth anniversary of the diplomatic relations between
Italy and China it is the most important Exhibition about Manchu
ever realized, even in China.
For the first time the personal
items belonging to the last emperor of China Pu Yi are exhibited
to the international public.
You can admire the items shown in the film directed by Bernardo
Bertolucci "L'Ultimo Imperatore" that won 9 Oscar
Awards.

Imperatore (Manchu, the Last Emperor) at Casa dei Carraresi
in Treviso from 29th October to 13th May 2012. Casa dei Carraresi
houses an exhibition on the last dinasty that ruled the Celestial
Empire from 1644 until 1911, which closes the cycle of exhibitions
called “The Silk Road and the Chinese Civilization“.
This is an international event and also a unique occasion to
admire items that have never been exhibited before.

Manchu, the Warrior Dinasty
Manchu
is the last dynasty that ruled the Celestal Empire from
1644 to 1911, and it is the protagonist of the fourth
exhibition on China. The documents and findings coming
from the Chinese collections and archives, still unknown
in the West, are shown for the first time to the international
public during this great exhibition that closes the
cycle of exhibitions called “the Silk Road and
the Chinese Civilization”
The Throne of Manchu
The fabulous
throne of Mukden, the ancient capital of Manchuria founded
by Nurhachi, has been taken apart into pieces and reassembled
with all its fittings at Casa dei Carraresi. It is a
unique event in the history of China.

The
Military Uniforms of 1644
The beautiful military uniforms of
the great emperors Manchu and the army that conquered
China in 1644, are exhibited with war helmets and
symbols of the “eight flags”, which stand
for the ranks of the Tartar army.
The Weapons and the Conquest
The fabulous swords of Nurhachi, Huangtaiji,
Dorgun, the bows and the arrows of the most powerful
Asiatic army of the seventeenth century, as well as
quivers, saddles and rifles complete the war section.
The Treasures of the Imperial Palace
Casa dei Carraresi houses the treasures
of the emperors coming from the imperial palace of
Mukden (now Shenyang), such as the golden coffers
containing the seals of the Great Qing”.

The
Fabulous Court Treasures
A precious collection of jewels of
gold, jade, precious stones, feathers of kingfisher
is shown together with the personal jewels of Pu Yi
that were stolen from his bag, while in jail.
The Everyday Items
An entire section of the exhibition
is about objets of gold and silver, jade, china, copper,
lacquer, silk, enamel, wood, that represent the everyday
life in the imperial palace.
The Fabulous Imperial Wardrobes
Sumptuous embroided silk dresses,
well preserved in the wardrobes of the imperial palace,
once belonging to the emperors, empresses, concubines
and nobles of the imperial court, will be exhibited
at Casa dei Carraresi.

The
Portraits of the Emperors
The official
portraits of the twelve emperors Qing represent an extraordinary
"gallery" of this family – the Manchu
family of Aisin Gioro – that ended with the last
emperor, Pu Yi.
The Pictures of Castiglione
Three
magnificent paintings on silk, by the jesuit Giuseppe
Castiglione from Milan, show the art of this extraordinary
Italian man, who was the greatest "Chinese"
painter of the eighteenth century, under the name of
Lang Shining.
The
Epic Deeds of the Last Emperor
For the
first time the personal items of the last emperor of
China, Pu Yi, who was the protagonist of the movie masterpiece
by Bernardo Bertolucci, have been brought out from the
Changchun palace, the capital of the empire called with
the name of Manchukuò.

Dresses and Personal Items
The dresses of the Child Emperor Pu Yi, the famous small
cage of the cricket, his only friend in the palace,
his first camera, and other few items of the period
1908-1924 are exhibited for the first time.
From his Imperial Throne to Jail
The rare and precious items of the time of the Manchukuò
empire (1932-1945), the vainglorious uniforms belonging
to Pu Yi, who was cheated by the Japanese, and the items
he used while in jail, (1950-1959) testify his extraordinary
human story.
... to a Simple "Popular" Citizen
Finally, the documents of the “citizen”
Pu Yi (1959-1967), his diaries, his ballot paper, his
simple dress typical of “Mao” period, the
many photos during the following period of his "new
life" of the last emperor of China.

Fifteen
Masterpieces by Jiang Guofang
Furthermore, the exhibition houses 15 large oil paintings
about the imperial court and its protagonists, painted
by one of the greatest contemporary chinese painters,
that is the master Jiang Guofang.
